Project Goal

With the rise of AI tools and technology, deepfakes are a risk for businesses and individuals. Accenture wanted to create a resource to educate users about the dangers of deepfakes, and how to protect themselves against them. This included a microsite hub for educational content, and an interactive video for a more impactful, personalized experience. We partnered with Active Theory to design and develop these experiences.

My Role

My first step was to gather content and outline the framework of what the microsite experience would be. We divided the content up into 4 pillars: Learn, Protect, Respond, and News, and structured the site to guide users through the story.

Once the wireframes were complete, we met with Active Theory to discuss ideas for how to bring the site to life. We liked the idea of using microinteractions to illustrate the concept of deepfakes, such as using a mouse-over to initiate a face swap on a video of a person.

Interactive Film

The second component of the project was the interactive film, featuring deepfake expert Kyle Vorbach. During the film, a photo and audio sample are collected from the user, which are then seamlessly integrated into the story for dramatic effect.

User Journey

I helped determine the flow of the film, as there were several actions that needed to take place in a specific order. Permissions such as age gate and mic/camera access determined the content that would follow, so we needed to accommodate for each possible scenario.

The Results

The project was showcased at SXSW 2025, and covered by publications such as Adweek. It currently serves as a required training course for the 700k+ employees at Accenture, and remains available as a free resource for the public.
